Thanks to the unwavering support from The Ock Rang Cultural Foundation, ‘Documentary Ock Rang Award’, a documentary production support program founded in 2002, presents its 16th film this year. ‘Documentary Ock Rang Award’ has supported female documentary directors who capture diverse perspectives and voices of women through alternative outlook and method of storytelling. Total of 18 recipients of the Ock Rang Award have now become representative of women’s perspective of each period and written the history of Korea’s feminist films. As SIWFF created ‘Pitch & Catch,’ a pitch competition supporting features and documentaries produced by female filmmakers in 2010, ‘Documentary Ock Rang Award’ was reorganized to become the ‘Documentary’ section of ‘Pitch & Catch.’ Projects selected through preliminary rounds are given the chance to be mentored by film experts and join the LAB training program. The pitch-judging panel will select the best pitch during the festival. The final recipient of the Ock Rang Award will receive a production fund of 15 million KRW; projects included in the final round will receive ‘JINJIN Award’ with 1 million KRW prize. The 20th SIWFF will showcase the world premiere of director LEE Sun-hee’s Face, the Other Side, the winner of 2017 Documentary Ock Rang Award.
