SYNOPSIS

Is the single category, femininity, in feminism, another oppressed category that should be deconstructed? Coming Out deconstructs this femininity with its portrayal of two women, a lesbian and a bisexual. The differences in sexuality create different experiences and different life stories. Femininity would have no more reason to insist on its identity should it choose to be silent to these different experiences and stories. ¡®Straight¡¯ women who strongly insist on and prefer heterosexuality cannot be the same as lesbians who prefer homosexuality and bisexual women whose sexual preferences cannot be categorized under any certain gender. Coming Out, by bringing forth the differences in women¡¯s sexuality brings ¡®out¡¯ and open categorization of femininity instead of a closed one. (Kim Seon-A)
