SYNOPSIS

Just back from New York, Ching, travelling after being left by a long-time girlfriend whom she had loved for a long time, happens to meet Shian, an artist who also has wounds from lost love. They spend quiet, ordinary times together in beautiful nature while staying at Shian¡¯s friend¡¯s house. Theirs was a chance meeting, but Shian gradually discovers that she feels love for Ching. In the end Ching accepts her love, too, but she goes away, leaving behind a letter saying that she opened her eyes to the value of love and life that is deeper than a single night.
Following her debut film Where is My Love(1995) where the director deals with gay love, this film deals with lesbian love. The original title means a faraway place like the end of the earth. This is the geographical background in the film and at the same time it signifies the characters¡¯ psychological states. The women are both inwardly perilous and lonely people. However, the director serenely portrays that the meaning of life or the truth about love are not so far away. This film, which intersects the two women¡¯s ordinary daily lives to portray the universal aspects of love, is Taiwan¡¯s first lesbian film.
