SYNOPSIS

A woman is dancing on the beach. Along with her dancing and her inner voice, the film is divided into four stages: hope, fear, anger and the longing for stability. The film crosscuts these emotions with those of Ma Tsu islanders, soldiers, and the film maker from Taiwan visiting Ma Tsu islands for the first time.

    Received an MA in Photography and Cinema at the Ohio State Univ., Chien also worked as actress, is now a lecturer on ¡°Women and Cinema¡± in university. Her works include Jane and Their Stories(1994) and Echo with Women¡¯s Voices - Their Involvement in Political Movements(1997).
