This film reveals the women’s pro-boxing world, where world-class athletes compete against one another. In order to taste a moment of victory, these women must stand facing with the human instinct that seeks escape from pain and suffering. But the real reason behind their attraction toward this sport lies in their discovery of the power within themselves while breaking down preconceptions about gender. Elaborate cinematography and exquisite editing, in addition to an energetic soundtrack, compare this sport to an enchanting modern dance form. The star of Shadow Boxers is Dutch-born Lucia Rijker who, at the age of 12, began kickboxing and rose to the top with her outstanding skills. She moves her arena to America to make a challenge for the world championship. Audiences are bound to experience the lively nature of boxing that has inspired these women athletes, passing through their hearts and expressed through their fists. (Nam In-Young)
