SYNOPSIS

There are women who thrive on their physical strength and for this they tend to choose physically demanding jobs. They have different tastes in working tools - some are satisfied with a mere hatchet in their hand while others are excited by the sound of an electric saw. Does this suggest the birth of some strange new group? Not a chance. These women are firefighters of the San Francisco Fire Department.
They take pride in their occupation, traditionally closed to women due to an assumed lack of courage or physical strength. The fire department is a microcosm of a society ruled by heterosexual white males. Whether it is inside or outside the workplace, these women are forced to endure disparagement and disadvantage. Their struggles to fight all social restraints and to challenge their own abilities are truly the shining point of this film. The highlights of this documentary are its sharp-edged interviews and compact structure. (Nam In-young)
