The film reveals the loss of our historical identity and cultural colonization, portraying our obsession with learning English and how English dominates our everyday lives and consumer culture. As an alternative, the filmmaker suggests creating a Third Tongue. (Kim Hea-seung)
Son Kwang-juSon Kwang-ju
Born in 1970, Son Kwang-ju recently graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a M.F.A. in Film, Video and New Media. Her thesis film The Third Tongue won the Sunje Fund Award for Best Korean Short Film at the 8th Pusan International Film Festival in 2003. Her films includes A Boiled Egg (2000) and Sound of Night (2002).
