Have you ever wished you had gay parents? It’s a feeling many of us have felt when your parents are unwilling to accept your identity, when you feel sympathetic towards the gay couple in If These Walls Could Talk 2, and when you get irritated by your dad moaning every time Hong Suk-cheon is on TV. We imagine how nice it’d be to have open-minded parents leading lives that are not heterosexual orientated. In this film there are teenagers who live that dream. The teenagers in Our Parents Are Gay and So Is Life sometimes express a “So what if they are gay?” point of view and some other times, they confide how difficult their lives are. Other times yet, they shout out “yeah, I’m not going to live my life just like my parents”. Their story is one of strange envy for us but at the same time it is a surprisingly familiar reality. It’s a short documentary but it reflects an interesting blue print for the future that is just around the corner for us. (One)
