SYNOPSIS

People are dancing to techno rhythm in nightclub. A woman approaches a man but she never gets what she wants. She rushes to the toilet and cuts her wrist. The man rescues her and brings her home. The woman asks the man to intimately inspect her naked body from an angle from which she should never be viewed. He asks money from her, and she makes a deal: This is the beginning of Anatomy of Hell. The man and woman spend 4 days in a strange house located on the very edge of seashore cliff. Soon, the man gets a strange feeling that the erotic place for his ecstasy changes into a scary hell. Haunted by the never-before experience, he confronts to his weakness and kills the woman who reminds him of it.
Spacey decoration of the interior, elaborated framing of male and female bodies, and extremely exquisite camera works emboss Breillat¡¯s striking, daring cinematic language. Rocco Siffredi, a famous hard-core porn actor also starring as Paolo in Breillat¡¯s previous film Romance, plays the role of the man.
Based on the novel Pornicratie written by Breillat herself, this film is a serious and candid investigation of ¡®the man and the woman¡¯ and the female desire through daring graphic yet objective descriptions of sexuality. (Lim Sung-min)
