SYNOPSIS

Helen and Paul have been married for 25 years. Helen is a working class woman who is sick and tired of mundane days of life. Paul is on the verge of giving up his own life worn out with poverty and alcohol. One day, a runaway from forced marriage, Tasha came into their life with her mother. A Rumanian-Czech immigrant, Tasha is a friend of their daughter. Helen becomes friendly with Tasha. Following 3 people¡¯s perspective, this film presents the true relationship between a British working class woman and a Czech immigrant with a touch of \"Dogma\" doctrine. Actor/director Jan Dunn captures the reality of racism, sexuality, immigrant and intimacy with the lively camera of Dogma. This was one of the best queer films in 2005, winning Levi¡¯s First Feature Award on Frame line along with many other film festivals. (KIM Sunah)

  • Jan DUNNJan DUNN

    Jan Dunn began her career as a classically trained actress before beginning to direct short films. She has directed several short films since completing the one-year line producing course at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield. She formed Spotty Dog Films in 1999 to make a comedy short film Mary¡¯s Date. This short became a huge success both critically and financially. The film also achieved a mainstream cinema release alongside feature films, amounting to 26 weeks altogether. Her films include Joan (2000), Ruby Blue (2007) and The Calling under postproduction.
