SYNOPSIS

Typical of many Taiwanese teens, 17-year-old Yi-chun, who is trying to enter the dance department in university, spends her days with a tightly-packed schedule. A wake-up call at 6:15, morning class, dance practice in the afternoon, return home at 6 pm, then homework. In contemporary Taipei, filled with the remnants of rapid economic growth and modernization, neo-Confucian patriarchy, fear of China, and an authoritarian government, young girls live in the grips of boundless competition and tight discipline. Within such an environment, they dream of small escapes. (KWON Eun-sun)
