SYNOPSIS

A mother\'s most horrible nightmare is that her child is missing. This girl is mine tells a tale of a middle-aged Maud searching for her missing daughter for 12 years. Maud accidentally sees 11-year-old Zita in a swimming pool and finds out the fact that Zita has the exact same birthmark as her missing daughter. However, this other woman, Joana, has already made the girl her daughter. Joana, a liberal working class woman, lies about Zita¡¯s birth but Maud finally proves Zita is her daughter by a genetic test. Zita, however, is familiar with the circumstances managed by Joana and feels happy there. While having a quarrel with her husband and watching Joana\'s liberal life and Zita\'s everyday life, Maud looks back on her own life. She has some problems: she is slightly addicted to sleeping pills and alcohol because of stress from her work as a supervisor and an unstable life after a divorce. Not thinking of her own happiness she wonders if taking back Zita by force can make a happy life for her daughter, Zita. So now one mother having given birth and the other mother having fostered the child decide together to remain as Zita¡¯s two mothers and make the best choice for their daughter Zita. It is a French version of advice on motherhood. (KIM Sunah)
