Stephanie Daley, a 16-year-old girl, is accused of killing her own newborn baby, denies it and meets Lydie Crane (Tilda Swinton), a court-appointed psychologist. Stephanie insists that she is not guilty because she even has no idea about her pregnancy and has a stillborn child. Lydie is charged with the Stephanie’s case to ravel out the truth. Lydie, whose marriage is at a crisis, is barely able to keep up with her own anxiety about her husband’s adultery and unilateral chasing of her husband’s friend, who is also pregnant. The entire picture is finally bared by Stephanie’s last shocking statement. Stephanie Daley, a mainstream film with a certain sticky air and a well-organized and gradually revealed mystery, throws out a question about the matter of maternity. Timothy Hutton as Lydie Crane\'s husband, Jum Gaffican as his friend and Melissa Leo also appears in this which won film the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and Best Actress Award at the 2006 Locarno International Film Festival.
