Joseph is a kick boxing master with an aim to make his daughter and niece kick boxing champions in France. Kickboxing is a life in itself for Joseph, his daughter Angie and niece Angela. Joseph\'s wife Theresa dislikes and doesn\'t understand the world of kick boxing. Angie loses and Angela wins in the French championship. Angie and Angela who used to be just like sisters drift apart from each other, Joseph has an affair and Theresa feels puzzled on a search of her own exit. Joseph\'s only goal in his life is a victory in the rings and following Joseph\'s decision Angela loses weight and staves for double crown in the same weight with Angie. Angie gets more and more disillusioned at such a father\'s world of competition and fighting and follows her mother in separating from Joseph. Imprecating the kick boxing\'s movement and heroines\' fearless eyes, it powerfully delivers women\'s choice to enter the man\'s world and disillusion. On the Ropes, Magaly Richard-Serrano\'s first feature film with ingenious organizing ability and an uncompromising theme unlike other debut directors makes us expect her to be another excellent director leading the future of women\'s film making.
