SYNOPSIS

Cartoonist Sasha and her girlfriend Maya want to have a baby. In spite of their deep love and faith in each other, the process of becoming mothers is not easy. After long contemplation, they finally decide to have a baby and look for a man to help them. ¡°What does a baby mean in our life? Will my partner love a baby whom I bear? Would baby-making be easier for a straight couple?¡± Sasha ceaselessly thinks about the matters of baby-making, and decides to draw a cartoon about a straight couple who want to have a baby, to work out her thoughts on this complicated issue. Director Lisa Gornick¡¯s weaves Sasha¡¯s life and her cartoon characters¡¯ together, resulting in a profound and thoughtful reflection on the issue. Gornick, who humorously presented her thoughts on lesbian identity in Do I Love You? , screened at the 7th International Women¡¯s Film Festival in Seoul, deals with the issue of lesbian relationships in her second film. It is a low-budget digital film and its camera follows the characters intimately and naturally. As a director, lead, and even cartoonist, Gornick achieves wonderful results. This flm has been acclaimed at many festivals including Créteil International Women¡¯s Film Festvial and Outfest, and won the best feature film award at the Britspotting Film Festival Berlin 2007.
