SYNOPSIS

Artists in Residence Prize / Tricky Women 2009

Anna lives alone with her dog. One day, among the advertisements, she receives a big yellow envelope with a letter inside, suggesting to order her ideal man by catalogue...

In present society, we get advertisements every day by post, phone, and email. Consumption has become an irresistible fate whether you want it or not. Capitalism commercializes human relationship and lures people that money can fill the emptiness of human sentiment in the light of advanced civilization. When the second advertisement is delivered in this film, we, watching it from Seoul, cannot help but think of the Korean babies sent to Europe for adoption. On the other hand, however, Korean society is carrying a social campaign to raise the birthrate while it still fails to embrace the numbers of babies in their home country to this day. (Joon Yang KIM)
