SYNOPSIS

Tricky Women 2009

 Synopsis
The animated film by Pascale Osterwalder catapults us back in time to 1848, when the Viennese people rebelled against the minister of war. The accompaniment from two singing gentlemen (Christoph & Lollo) makes this film a history lesson with a difference.

Program Note
Wein is a city known as generous and peaceful. This short film describes the civil demonstration that broke out 160 years ago in that city, in a way that reminds of the American animation sitcom South Park. As the city falls into the chaos of revolution from the stiff fence of old mediaeval society, women with aprons, carpenters, gardeners, snake hunters and railway workers march to a square raising their voices against the powers-thatbe. The two indie singers, Christoph and Lollo, who turned this historical event into a song with joyous melodies and rhythms, also appear in the film as characters. (Joon Yang KIM)
