SYNOPSIS

The protagonist gets dressed before a mirror to go out. A fishing line that looks like a cobweb starts coming out of the body of ¡®I¡¯. The protagonist keeps reeling in the fishing line, stepping over it and crawling about to try and get ready to go out. Eventually, the various objects in the household are dragged out one by one and the home is left in a mess.

What Hinders Me from Leaving Home is one of the latest works of director SHIM who has constantly explored the daily lives, sexuality, and deviation of middle class housewives as they live being locked in the security system of fancy apartments. A woman prepares for an outing. But strings come loose from her skirt and are tangled with the furniture around her. This film is an experimental video that shows the lives of housewives who are tied up in their apartments, their kitchens, and their furniture. (KWON Eun-sun)
