SYNOPSIS

 Synopsis
In a noisy classroom, a biology teacher Madoka proceeds with his lesson in a small voice. He is unable to look at the students square in the face nor admonish them for talking or sleeping in class. Only Tsubura looks upon him with a smile. Tsubura, thinking that ¡°combining Mr. Madoka (who has no one) with me (who needs someone) would surely be perfect,¡± gets the wild idea of a genital exchange with Madoka.

 Program Note
High school girl Tsubura has a crash on a biology teacher Madoka. In her note, there are lots of imaginative sketches that Madoka and Tsubura exchange their body parts, and eventually become one body. One day, for inexplicable reason, their genital organs are actually dis- and re- pleaced. Madoka, panicked and confused, takes Tsubura to his country house to hide, in which he used to live in the past. Moreover, as En, who secretly adores Tsubura, and Maru, who admires En, intervene, the situation unexpectedly unfolds. KIMURA Shoko¡¯s debut feature film The End of Puberty presents us her reference to and twist of traditional genres such as body swap genre, youth film, roman porno/pink film with witty but bizarre imagination about teenage girl¡¯s fantasy of first sex. In this film, it is impossible to read out the change of sex organs as subversion or deconstruction of power relationship. The director just shows girls without knowing shyness and intimidated boys with old-fashioned video game¡¯s electronic music in lovely, humorous, and sometimes serious manner. (HWANG Miyojo)
