SYNOPSIS

Female entertainers and aspiring entertainers straive for their dreams, but majority of them are not treated with respect and their personal rights are encroached upon with unfair contracts as well as pressure for plastic surgery and sexual favors.

 


 

Many teenagers adore celebrities and wish to become celebrities themselves. However, becoming a celebrity in today¡¯s Korean society is not independent from issues on the right to make a decision in regards to one¡¯s own body as well as autonomy of an individual. Under the guise of ¡®custom¡¯, one¡¯s body is quantitatively measured and is pressured to be altered; and in this process one¡¯s individuality is lost in no time. This film interweaves the issues in the entertainment industry such as pressure for stereotypical appearance and sexual favors as well as turning blind eye to wrongdoings through in-depth interviews with the entertainment industry people as well as the hopefuls.   • LEE Ae-limLEE Ae-lim

    Graduated from the School of Film, TV & Multimedia at the Korean National University of Arts. She directed The Flesh and Bone of the animated project for human rights, If You Were Me (2005). The various projects she has completed, including the production and exhibition of many animations, and the production of leader films for the IWFFIS and the Jeonju International Film Festival are all evidence of her unique style.
