This documentary is a call from the periphery of sanity. It depicts is a series of dream narratives, and accounts of spiritual possession as experienced by women ‘petitioners’ at the shrine of a Sufi saint in north India. Drama unfolds via dreams, and appearances of djinns and disappearances of women.

There Is Something in the Air is a short documentary that shows the spiritual experiences and the dreams of female followers at a Sufi (one group among Muslims) shrine through a poetic and dreamlike method. With the appropriate use of text, sound, photograph, and inserts of scenery surrounding the shrine, the film enchantingly presents the intensity of their suffering, illusion and emotions. It received the Best Short Documentary Award at the 4th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala in 2011. (HWANG Miyojo)
