SYNOPSIS

 Synopsis
Two teenagers live in a little Mexican town. Sofia wants to leave. Jonas has to decide whether to stay or leave with her.

 Program Note
Watching It Rain received the Golden Palm Award for best short film at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007. It depicts the wandering of the two teenagers, Sofia and Jonas, from a small village in Mexico. The realities of a stagnant village on the outskirts of Mexico are represented by continuous rainfall and the humidity of the rainy season. Sofia decides to leave the village and head to a city. The motive of the journey is a cinematic expression of her unstable life and the lack of hope in the village. The stories of a woman on a journey, people who remain, and those who want to leave but unable to continuously linger as images on screen. Towards the end of the film, Sofia¡¯s close-up, framed in a window of a shaky car, visualizes the fact that her journey cannot only be a bright one. (HONG So-in)
