Synopsis
In what is also known as India’s ‘Little Pakistan’ in New Delhi, a girl is on a search for a lost home movie. The search takes her into the mapless lanes of the place she calls home. These lanes conceal a history and a past. A love and loss tale about being Muslim in India today.

Program Note
A girl born in New Delhi’s Muslim neighborhood known as ‘Little Pakistan’ comes face to face with her family history. Through the use of poetic voiceover and the camera focusing closely on the narrator, The Ghetto Girl examines the political issues surrounding Muslims in India and the history of women within Muslim families. The director makes good use of her family’s previously recorded super 8mm footage to create this autobiographical documentary. [HWANG Miyojo]
