Norwegian-Turkish filmmaker Nefise decides to send a balloon letter to Allah in order to change the role of women in the Muslim cultures. She experiencs the diversity of Cairo, Istanbul and Oslo by metting. As she strolls through this maze, the link between the three Abrahamic religions and the oppression of women becomes clear to her.

This film is narrated by the Norwegian-Turkish filmmaker Nefise Özkal LORENTZEN herself. Feeling oppression on both sides from antiwoman Islamic teachings and Western prejudice against Muslims, she begins to investigate whether Islam can be pro-women. Encounters with liberal as well as conservative priests, scholars of Islam, and feminist activists suggest that the religious reconciliation she wishes for is impossible to achieve. The conversations that she shares with the interviewees through this process and the animation film representing her hope pose a question worthy of deliberation with regards to contemporary feminism.
