SYNOPSIS

Ali must lie and say she is her wife Sam's sister so that she can be with Sam in the hospital because gay marriage is not legally recognized in the small Texas town where they live. Reluctant to listen to the doctor's opinions about Sam\'s condition, Ali loses herself in the couple's memories: their first meeting, their first date and the day before Sam\'s accident. Simultaneously, the hospital situation comes to a head when Nurse Lucy realizes their true relationship. Ali must confront those who would keep her from Sam as well her own fears of letting go.

The medical discourse that only accepts heterosexual couples as legal families denies same-sex couples the right to remain by each others¡¯ sides during their most critical moments. In a small village in Texas where same sex marriage is illegal, Ali must pretend to be Sam¡¯s sister so that she can be with her unconscious wife in the hospital. With beautiful cinematography, Quiet delivers a profound message about the way the theory of heterosexual family structure keeps loved ones apart and dismantles the very basis of being alive for same-sex partners.
