SYNOPSIS

Synopsis
Sang-hyun and Dong-hyun were born as conjoined twins with two heads sharing one body. For 30 years, the two have lived in a remote house with their father, who tells them not to go outside the property while Sang-hyun is obedient, Dong-hyun is always questioning something and extremely selfish. Dong-hyun secretly reads and practices writing in the hope of becoming a novelist. One day their father learns of out a fact Dong-hyun¡¯s dream, he implores Seung-ah, a cheerful and friendly illustrator wannabe, whom he met by some fortuity, to assist Dong-hyun to publish a book..

Program Note
The Peach Tree , directed by actress KU Hye-sun, is a story about conjoined twin brothers of a very special kind. Donghyun, acted by RYOO Dukh-wan, has another face on the back of his head that belongs to his ¡°older¡± brother Sang-hyun, played by JO Seung-woo. When Dong-hyun, a novelist wannabe, falls in love with Seung-ah, a would-be illustrator, the plot naturally develops into a love triangle. Let¡¯s not delve too deeply into the scientific facts; instead, let¡¯s just remember the tragic myth about Edward MORDAKE, who was reportedly in a similar situation.
Common sense impels us to expect a horror movie, or a gothic romance, at best. But KU Hye-sun implants the story in her own world that she has created over the past several years. Her world rarely shares history or space with ours, simply dismisses common sense, and presents a whimsical picture of the fantasy world. How often can we watch this kind of film in the midst of the cascade of mainstream films that are released across commercial screens? Regardless of the ratings for The Peach Tree , it is true that the film is as strange and rare as the Siamese twins themselves. [LEE Young-soo/Djuna]
