SYNOPSIS

Synopsis
She is an ordinary housewife to whom her husband and daughter mean the whole world. On the day she got a stamp on her passport for the first time, she is mistaken for a drug dealer in France and gets imprisoned. She finds herself locked up in a prison on the French island of Martinique where she cannot understand a word. She is on the other side of the globe, 12,400km away from Korea and it takes 22 hours by flight across the Atlantic for her to reach home. Will she be able to make her way back home?

Program Note
To live in a world where an incident that could be resolved immediately by following common sense and principles is turned into
¡®a reality more movie-like than a movie¡¯ is a situation which could arise in a state of anarchy. An ordinary housewife, who believes
she would receive protection by the government both in and out of the country, ends up spending 756 days estranged in a location
12,400km (22 hours by plane) away from Korea. Her country remains silent throughout the whole time. Director PANG Eunjin
based her movie on the true story of an ordinary Korean housewife who was imprisoned for two years on the French island
of Martinique in the Caribbean after being wrongfully accused of drug smuggling at Orly Airport in Paris, France. The journey to
recreate the incident that had been largely ignored by both the government and the media was not easy. From getting necessary
papers prepared, translated and notarized in the pre-production stage to finding film locations, putting together a team of staff,
casting actors, and finally carrying out on-site management, the whole process took almost as long as the original story¡¯s ordeal.
The sincerity in the efforts of director PANG Eun-jin, who planned, organized and orchestrated this extraordinary project together
with leading actors JEON Do-yeon and KO Soo as well as the production crew reminds us that we have the right to find our way
back home no matter how long it takes and how tough it may be. [LEE Angela]
