SYNOPSIS

World Premiere

Synopsis

An elementary school teacher, Sun-mi is a patient with congenital absence of the vagina, which means she has no vagina and womb. Since childhood, she has been hiding her disease and living inside a bubble to protect herself from society. One day, Sun-mi goes on a blind date and believes that she has finally found her Mr. Right. Would that man be the one she can spend the rest of her life with happily ever after?

Program Note

A musical that deals with the subject of the female body and identity in the form of a romance narrative. Sunmi used to be brimming with femininity as a young girl, but has been reduced to a shadow of her former self ever since being diagnosed with vaginal agenesis. The more she tries to hide her feelings, the more tragic they become, and so Sun-mi pours her heart into a song in an earnest attempt to express herself. The formal aesthetics of creating a textured flow of emotions through animation inserts, melody of the song and cross cuts is what stands out in this film, more so than the actual message of the film.
