SYNOPSIS

 Synopsis

My mother had terminal cancer a few years ago. I took care of her. The disease was an invincible enemy, so we did not know how to fight.

 Program Note

A short film by Paula MARKOVITCH-the director of the opening film The Prize - Ambulance Music deals with the director¡¯s autobiographical story. Lucia, a mother in her 50s, is a terminal cancer patient, and her daughter Cecilia is taking care of her. The weight of the painful disease is felt in the silences shared between the mother and the daughter, in their arduous movements, and in the feelings of loneliness. Then one day, a young male nurse visits them, and for a short period of time, sudden liveliness shows on the faces of the mother and the daughter. In a moment of fantasy in this heavy-burdened life, the daughter remembers her mother as a laughter bursting out of a gap between painful memories. This is a film about the mother and the daughter sharing their daily lives, their time, and memories. (HONG So-in)
