SYNOPSIS

A story of four women: a promiscuous wanderer Joy, an inept singer Catty, an expectant mother Marithes, and Sylvia who is hopelessly devoted to her homosexual ex-husband. Being courageous and sometimes self-effacing in their desires for finding their own success and even love, they have each struggled to improve their lot in spite of the many obstacles they face. In a quiet way, through the intermingled lives of these four females, the film brings us back to the time when the Philippines was torn by complex problems such as dictatorship, homosexuality, prostitution, and abortion. Malilu Diaz-Abaya, who has made films about the female problems like assault and rape, is talking about the courage, self-respect, and sisterhood of Filipino women in the quiet and heartwarming way.
