SYNOPSIS

Some Things Are Hard to Talk About is a personal documentary about the secrets of abortions in the protagonist¡¯s family over three generations. Having had an abortion 10 years ago, the protagonist is pregnant again, in the midst of a crisis in her relationship and once again faces the same questions from years ago.

¡°Should I have the baby?¡± ¡°Can I handle it?¡±

Then she hears the untold stories of her mother and grandmother, stories that numerous women have experienced but cannot talk about easily. These stories are about abortions but are not just about them, as these experiences with abortion include their own lives and the times that they lived through.

The protagonist¡¯s mother says, ¡°Every woman who has had an abortion has her own story.¡±

In this ¡°Pro-life or Pro-choice¡± dichotomy, the choice on abortion is overly simplified; however, this decision shouldn¡¯t be made on the basis of whether one should or should not give birth. The protagonist¡¯s introspection and insight into her mother and grandmother¡¯s lives through their stories and thoughts on abortion is incredibly invaluable. [Na Young]
