We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the filmmakers who showed their support and submitted their valuable works to the 27th Seoul International Women¡¯s Film Festival.
This year, we received a total of 4,129 submissions from 131 countries worldwide. After a thorough and careful review by our preliminary jury, we are delighted to announce the 6 finalists selected for the I-Teens competition section.
Congratulations to all the selected filmmakers!
I-Teens (Alphabetical Order)
The I-Teens section, which showcases short films by teenage female directors in Korea, received a total of 60 submissions this year. With an increase in entries compared to last year, we had the pleasure of discovering works that moved beyond the familiar depictions of teenage daily life. These films reflected an expanded thematic awareness and explored a wide range of subjects through bold and diverse approaches.
Particularly striking were the films that engaged with and reflected on the complexities of various relationships in everyday life, as well as those that attentively examined the physical and emotional journeys of teenage girls from a uniquely feminist perspective. What stood out most was the filmmakers¡¯ dedication to transforming these reflections into cinematic expressions, channeling positive energy and effectively conveying their sentiments to the audience.
This year¡¯s finalists include five narrative films and one documentary. While a notable number of animations and documentaries were submitted, it is regrettable that, despite their strong craftsmanship and compelling subjects, they did not advance to the final selection. Nevertheless, each work showed great potential, leaving us excited to see what these directors will create in the future.
Through this year¡¯s I-Teens section, we hope audiences will join us in exploring how teenagers today perceive and portray their world through film. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude and encouragement to all the participants for sharing their remarkable creations.
