Gender Equality in the Film Industry - How will it be accomplished?

Half the world's population is women, and yet the proportion of films created by Korean female directors and featuring by female leading characters is at a meager 5% – How do we change this reality? Why are women's films in such a state of impasse? It has been 10 years since the 'Diversity Films' policy, which promotes independent, artistic and documentary films, was initiated to address and fight against the domination of commercial cinema. Now is an appropriate time to reexamine and reestablish the film industry's structure and hierarchy from the perspective of gender equality.
