Competition Program

A competition section that showcases films created by Korean teenage female directors, ‘I-TEENS’ is sponsored by the Korea Broadcasting Art School. This year, ‘I-TEENS’ has selected 7 films for the final round from the preliminaries. While the films were diverse in terms of subject matter and genre, the advances in the documentaries and experimental films truly stood out this year. In particular, there were a lot of films that centered on contemporary social issues such as political democracy, history, education, human rights, and misogyny, which reflected the filmmakers’ strong willingness to participate in social activism and the strong desire for change. Films that best cinematically embodied the perspectives and voices of adolescents were selected for the final round. Qualifying films will be screened during the festival, and a teenage audience judge panel ‘I-TEENS’ will hold a thoughtful discussion after the screenings and nominate two finalist films for the Korea Broadcasting Art School I-TEENS Award. Winners will be awarded a cash prize of 500,000 KRW and a medal, as well as the Korea Broadcasting Art School Scholarship of 2,000,000 KRW.
