Documentary Ock Rang Award

Thanks to the unwavering and full support from The Ock Rang Cultural Foundation, ‘Documentary Ock Rang Award’, which is a documentary production support program founded in 2002, presents its 15th film this year. ‘Documentary Ock Rang Award’ has been supporting female documentary directors who capture and highlight the diverse perspectives and voices of women through with an alternative, refreshing outlook and storytelling. When the SEOUL International Women’s Film Festival created ‘Pitch & Catch,’ a pitch competition that invests in and supports dramatic movies and documentaries produced by female filmmakers, in 2010, ‘Documentary Ock Rang Award’ was reorganized and expanded to become the ‘Documentary’ section of the ‘Pitch & Catch.’ Through preliminary rounds, selected projects are given the opportunity to mentored by current film experts and participate in the LAB education program. The best pitch will be selected through a pitch judging panel that takes place during the period of the film festival. The winning recipient of ‘Documentary Ock Rang Award’ will be awarded a production fund of 15 million KRW. The 19th SIWFF will host the world premiere of director KIM Bo-ram’s For Vaginia’s Sake, the winner of ‘Documentary Ock Rang Award’ in 2016.
