Director's Statement
When I was lying broken on the ground, I couldn¡¯t help but feel how unfair it all was. Why did this keep happening to me? I had fallen so many times. But I used those days as a foothold and set out to find others. By observing the lives of female adolescents as they are, the film reveals people navigating their everyday lives on the unsteady steps of wounded souls. Rather than the wholeness society demands, it reflects the human faces that emerge through the cracks. Su-hyun, the protagonist, begins with a personal confession. Along the way, she meets other women who are broken like her and captures the weight carried by young people pretending they¡¯re okay, and the steps they continue to take. She walks alongside them, embracing the ways they¡¯ve learned to endure.
In this two-hour film, the protagonist strives toward a goal and eventually reaches it—somewhere. But what happens after that, we never see. Perhaps our brokenness is not an end but another way forward. For every broken youth who, even now, is lifting their head and taking another step.
