Synopsis
Sally is an attractive Korean woman who is perturbed by a beauty spot on her chest—a constant reminder of her ethnicity. She tries to remove it, but it only grows darker and more pronounced. Her story is interwoven with images of 1960s Hollywood actresses who epitomized "oriental" beauty for the white male gaze. In the end, Sally overcomes racial bias, falls in love with a Black man, and comes to see her spot as what it truly is: a beauty mark.

Helen LEEHelen Lee (b. 1965, Seoul) holds degrees from the University of Toronto (BA), New York University (MA), and York University (MA), and completed programs at the Whitney Independent Study Program and the Canadian Film Centre. Her work has screened at major festivals, including Toronto, Busan, Clermont-Ferrand, Oberhausen, Sydney, Singapore, Fukuoka, Chicago, and Thessaloniki. Retrospectives of her films have been held at Pleasure Dome (Toronto), Arsenal (Berlin), and the Taipei Film Archive.
