Synopsis
Ito, a high school student in far north Tsugaru, plays the Tsugaru shamisen as a hobby. She learned it from her late mother, a master player in her own right. While Ito can express herself through music, talking is a little harder due to shyness caused by her strong Tsugaru dialect. So she has a few friends, but has a strong inner spirit which leads her to take on a big challenge — working at a maid cafe.

YOKOHAMA SatokoBorn in 1978, Yokohama graduated from the Film School of Tokyo in 2004. Her graduation short film, Chiemi and Kokkunpatcho (2006), won a grant, and she independently produced her first feature film, German plus Rain (2007), which was released theatrically nationwide. The 2021 film Ito won several domestic awards. She is known for her talent in capturing intangible elements of everyday life with unique and expressive storytelling.
