"There is a bomb inside you. Why don't you try turning that bomb into a work?"

That is what director Nishikawa Miwa said to me after hearing my story—how, feeling stifled by my days at a Joseon school, I had stepped into Japanese society as if fleeing. This single remark, heard during my time working as an assistant director, became the starting point of the film and gave me the occasion to confront a task I had long left buried within myself. But because the subject was a sensitive one, it was not easy to gather people willing to help during production, and I was plagued by constant anxiety over whether I could see it through to the end. Even so, there were those who held me up, saying, "This is a work worth making," and it was thanks to them that I was finally able to bring it to completion. No words of gratitude can fully express how I feel. Now, as the number of Joseon schools has been shrinking rapidly over the past decade, I hope that through this work many people will come to recognize the existence of the children who attend these schools.​
