Asian Short Film & Video Competition
The only competitive section of IWFFIS, ‘Asian Short Film and Video Competition’, screens a total of 19 film works selected from 373 works submitted from many Asian countries such as Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Israel, Indonesia, Singapore, Myanmar, Philippines and Korea. This year’s finalists catch the fear, confusion, complexity of life in present age with a mature view on life.

‘Documentary Pitch&Catch’ that supports documentary production. It has been showing unparalleled results among many open pitching programs. Through last three open pitching opportunities, Two Weddings and a Funeral (2010 Feature Film Artreon Award), Miss Conspirator (titled Participation as \"Ga Dam\" in the 2010 Feature Film Finals), Grape Candy (2011 Feature Film Artreon Award), The Ethics of Anger (2011 Feature Film Award Finalist) and the documentary 2 Lines (2010 Documentary Ock Rang Award) has released in theaters and You Belong Here, won three awards including 2012 Feature Film Artreon Award, Seoul Women Vision Award, and Audience Award, is currently in preparation for production and the Ock Rang Award-winning documentary The Empire of Shame will screen as a world premier at the IWFFIS this year. From Pitch&Catch, many film works have attracted film industry people and in the end they have been led to actual film productions. From the opening call for entry held in last March, 67 feature films and 16 documentaries were submitted; and through an intense preliminary evaluation process, 5 feature films and 5 documentaries are selected in the end. The selected projects will be upgraded through participation in 6-week Pitch&Catch LAB in order to get a mentoring on film development and pitching training and then they will meet people in film industry at the open pitching session during the film festival in May. Especially this year, they will compete for 38 million KRW in prize money sponsored by Megabox, Seoul Film Commission, and Ock Rang Cultural Foundation and after the pitching, an opportunity for a business meeting will be waiting for them.
