SIWFFstar is a new title for the festival ambassador who supports and joins SIWFF. This year, actor Choi Sungeun, who formed a connection with the 26th SIWFF through the screening of Time to Be Strong (2024), joins as the 11th SIWFFstar.
Choi Sungeun began her acting career after studying acting at the Korea National University of Arts. She made a striking debut in the film Start-Up (2019) as Kyung-joo, earning the Best New Actress Award at the 25th Chunsa Film Art Awards. Since then, she has showcased her wide range-from the delicate emotional depth in the TV drama Beyond Evil (2021) to a refreshing transformation in the Netflix series The Sound of Magic (2022).
In 2024, she portrayed Sumin, a former idol navigating youth and womanhood, in Time to Be Strong, a film featured at the 26th SIWFF. Her performance resonated with audiences and earned her the Best Actor Prize at the 25th Jeonju International Film Festival. Her growing filmography also includes Ten Months (2020), Gentleman (2021), and My Name is Loh Kiwan (2023).
Recognized as one of the most promising actors of her generation, Choi continues to explore the intricate emotions of youth and womanhood across diverse genres. Embodying this year's festival slogan, "Reimagining F," she joins SIWFF as a face of the festival-an actor who inspires infinite possibilities through her unique gaze and sincere performances.
