The Ock Rang Cultural Foundation has provided full and unwavering support for female filmmakers through the ¡®Documentary Ock Rang Award,¡¯ a support program that began in 2002 and presents its 17th film at SIWFF this year. The award has and continues to support female documentary directors who capture and highlight the diverse perspectives and voices of women in society. When SIWFF created the 'Pitch&Catch¡¯ program to support feature films and documentaries in 2010, the Ock Rang Award was restructured to become the documentary support section of the program. The winner of the Documentary Ock Rang Award will be selected during the festival and awarded a production fund of 15 million KRW, as well as given the opportunity to be mentored by film experts and participate in a lab training program. The winner of the 2018 award, director PARKKANG Areum, will present the world premiere of her documentary Areum Married at SIWFF 2019.
