SYNOPSIS

On the first day of summer vacation, Sun, an outcast at school meets Jia who is new in town. They become best friends ever, sharing their secrets and spending the most beautiful summer together. PROGRAM NOTE

Sun, who feels excluded among her friends, meets Jia, a transfer student, on the day of the end-of-term ceremony. Throughout the vacation, Sun and Jia become close friends, sharing a bond of friendship. However, when the break ends, Jia seems indifferent and carefree. She flies away like the wind whenever Sun reaches out to her then she joins other friends. Sun becomes entangled in anxiety while observing Jia¡¯s behavior.
The World of Us is a film that unravels the beautiful melody of childhood memories into a silent scream. The audience empathizes with Sun, feeling the fragments of their shattered childhood as they sadly watch Sun and Jia¡¯s relationship. The film reflects on the moments when we used to play catch and throw the ball with all our might, or when we gazed at balsam on our fingernails until it faded away, then the viewers realize that we in our past were not just happy every day. As Sun tries to mend the subtly fractured relationships and realizes she is the most wounded one, the audience witnesses her growth into adulthood and looks back at the past of ¡°us.¡± [Kim Woojeong, Cinefemme]
